Impossible Foods makes meat, dairy and fish directly from plants. Founded in 2011, its mission is to make the global food system truly sustainable by eliminating the need to make food from animals. Why? Animal agriculture uses a tremendous amount of the world’s natural resources: it’s responsible for 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, consumes 25% of the world’s fresh water, and occupies nearly half of the world’s land. But facts don’t feed cravings. So in 2016, Impossible Foods launched its first product, the Impossible Burger: meat made from plants, for people who love to eat meat. Delicious, nutritious, and made using but a small fraction of the land, water and energy used to make meat from a cow.
